Hollywood Greenlights “Inception” Reboot

Execs say, “Dream deal taken to the next level.”

Los Angeles - Warner Bros. announced this morning a reboot of Inception, a 4-time Oscar winner at this past weekend’s Academy Awards. The reboot comes just nine months after the film’s original theatrical release.

The announcement of greenlighting a reboot as opposed to a sequel was met with some confusion.  The Warner spokesperson promised no new thrills, just the same thrills from last year’s most thrilling film.  “Can you imagine a sequel to Inception? That wouldn’t work.”

The cast of the Inception remake is still being finalized, but it is rumored that Andrew Garfield is being looked at for the role originally played by Leonardo DiCaprio.  Other possible leading men include Adrian Grenier, George Clooney, and Leonardo DiCaprio. “Did you see Leo in the first one? It’s really easy to imagine him playing this role. Again. How awesome would that be?” a source close to the production commented.

Christopher Nolan is rumored to be attached to this version of Inception.  He wrote and directed the first one and will be using the exact same script and crew to shoot the reboot.  “I feel like the first one left the audience with a lot of unanswered questions,” Nolan commented, “and the reboot is a chance to illuminate those questions by once again not giving answers.”

Inception was the only blockbuster film of 2010 that was not a sequel or adapted work. Warner Bros. has already taken some heat for this unconventional move. “We felt the time was right to breathe in some new life. We loved the original Inception and are very proud of it winning four Academy Awards this past weekend. We hope the reboot will also win those same four Academy Awards next year. Maybe even more.”
